Greatest ODI Ever!

I am in shock. I was in shock when Taiseer called me up to follow the game. I caught the last 10 overs. My "refresh" button is worn out.

Australia 434/4 (50 ov)
South Africa 438/9 (49.5 ov)
South Africa won by 1 wicket

I am still in shock. This is the greatest ODI ever.

Cricket at its best beats ANY sport for sustained drama, excitement and pure genius.

Ricky Ponting leads his shell shocked team from the field as the scoreboard shows South Africa's World Record score of 438.

I happened on your blog only recently. I read some of the earlier ones, and they were very interesting. Keep up the writing!

Dean Jones during the innings interval.

"This knock of 434 is greatest in the ODIs and might not be conquered ever. The way Australia is murdering their opponents, makes them invincible," he said on the sidelines of the second Test between India and England.

True said. This indeed was the best ODI ever to have a glamorous display of runs batted in. But to all those people who are claiming South Africa to be the next Super-Power, relax and dont get too excited. They are not that consistent and they have the tendency to 'choke' in meaningful matches (when their reputation is on the line). Australia is far more consistent and over the few months they have been showing why they are still the best and why they are a serious threat to win it all next year once again! I mean, they boast one of the best batting line ups and each and every batsman who comes into the crease is a threat to score big runs. But having said all this about Australia, I must really say that South Africa did an amazing job of amassing 438 runs and winning the game with one ball to spare. It was a truly incredible feat....
...if only South Africa could be more consistent in every game....
