a Thursday. It's a great joyous occasion when all Muslims of the Ummah
will observe Thursday together on the same day (except those pesky
fitna-loving Polynesians). Sheikh Al Bouty was involved in the marathon
negotiations that brought all the leaders of the community together. The
Salafs initially wanted to wait till Friday, considered holy by the
Wahhabi Islam (and other sects), to celebrate Thursday, but came around
when informed that to get to Friday they would have to observe Thursday
first.
In other news ISNA has declared by virtue of
calculations that Thursday is not theoretically possible this week, and
declared tomorrow to be Friday.
